Friends of Agent Orange Victims [FAOV] is a bilateral, VN-US group of high-net-worth individuals’ initiative to generate private funding for AO survivors to supplement government assistance. It grew out of Dick Hughes’ Oct. - Nov. 2024 six-week visit to Viet Nam, a follow-up to his previous 2001, ’07 and ’16 postwar visits to AO-relief centers in Hanoi, TPHCM, Da Nang, Quang Tri, Qui Nhon, Dong Ha & Hue. The highlight of the 2024 trip was a 10/10/24 evening presentation at Fulbright University/Saigon with AO survivors Tran thi Hoan & Nguyen Ngoc Phuong [see ‘A Singular Journey” video in NEWS Section]. An email & two support letters, detailing the purpose of the trip, written by NYC developer Douglas Durst & U. S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, are below.

9/15/2017 New York Times Op Ed

"Phan Thanh Hung Duc, 20, lies immobile and silent, his midsection covered haphazardly by a white shirt with an ornate Cambodian temple design. His mouth is agape and his chest thrusts upward, his hands and feet locked in gnarled deformity. He appears to be frozen in agony."
